|
Cover fourth class: It NATO by the amplification and scientific widening of a preceding work (editor's note: Notes of venatorial ballistics - 1976), this book proposes to itself to guide step I pass the reader, in the possible most modern, simple and clear way, through three reigns of the Ballistics: Internal, External, Final. It is still about a complex science and in continuous evolution, the perennial connection, systematically pursued, with the great beginnings of the basic Science, it lets avoid the specialised adulterations, and give of the ballistics a homogeneous, synthetic, limpid picture. Even pleasant. It comments: The book is based on the mathematic modellizzazione of the ballistic phenomena. The author in brilliant way manages to frame in equations closed several problems of estimate and evaluation of the phenomena of internal, external and final ballistics. This last one considering the impact with targets from several material (no biological). In order that the author follows in the resolution of several equations it is a desirable property of the rudiments of differential and integral calculus. There interesting also the considerations to edge of the final equations. To our medesto to seem the treatment remains often at too theoretical level, some practical examples of real application of the obtained mathematic relations, they would have been used for understanding certainly better the matter. In the section dedicated to the internal ballistics the study is faced of several parametres in the domination of the space (long the cane) omitting unfortunately the study in the domination of the time (typical of the test in manometrica). Considering the text in his entirety and also the narrow number of specific publications in Italian language, we believe that it is worth the punishment to purchase it. |

Cover fourth class: Eighth revised and up-to-date edition of this known work dedicated to the technology of the portable fire-arms of hunt, of pulling and of defence: nomenclature and description of the parts; dusts and their characters; internal, external, experimental, applied ballistics; I pull self-moved targets up; signs on the military weapons; recent developments of the technology (editor's note: for the epoch). It contains besides 319 illustrations and numerous tables. It comments: The text contains numerous information useful and interesting, only fault the section dedicated to the experimental and applied ballistics that suffers from the antiquity of the text. The second edition of the book goes up again already in 1955, and in further 50 years the technique with the Advent of the electronics (the first transitor go up again in 1950) has done remarkable progress, so significant progress to twist and to renew the methods of inquiry described by the author. There remains, in any case, interesting the historical aspect referable to a kind of scientific archaeology that extols the human inventiveness as means for the overcoming of the technological limits. It would be very interesting to be able to read a text that, with the same statement and logical run, illustrates the modern techniques of experimentation and ballistic inquiry. |

|
Cover fourth class: This manual puts in degree the reader of understanding the general beginnings that regulate the motion of the ball with the shot up to the interior of the body of the wild animal. Without the use of complex mathematic laws, he proposes a solution of the most frequent practical problems: initial speed with several lengths of cane, recoil, reading of the metric boards of pulling and Anglo-Saxons, creation of boards of pulling, distances of regulation, effects of the wind, corrections of aim with target more in high or more far down, stability of the ball, choice of the ball. They follow the thick ballistic tables for speed with 600 to 1300 metres per second and ballistic coefficients of 0.100 to 0.790, tables of conversion with system Anglo-Saxon to metric, strength of the wind, given on the balls the majority commonly traceable in commerce. It comments: As emphasised on the cover fourth one, the author synthesises at most the fundamental concepts that regulate the internal, external and final ballistics. The use of the mathematic relations is indispensable at least. We notice, in any case, that the true text and really it already ends (perhaps not much prematurely) to page 85, further in fact, there are only the numerous ballistic boards and other table data. |

Cover fourth class: Who, for sporting passion or for demands of personal defence, approaches the fire-arms, after a little bit, inevitably, it begins to be interested also of munitions. From here to the reloading the step is short, and he is usually completed by extreme truthfulness, even if to practice such an activity is not exactly how to do supplying close to an automatic petrol distributor. The reloading asks for a threshold of elevated attention, a minimum of concentration during the most binding operations, and, obviously, a place where to be able to work without being disturbed. To begin a good revolver is enough I ream.38 Specials, a minimum of equipment and the indispensable components: cases, balls, triggers and dust. Moreover economic, to reload the cartridges is also amusing, to pact of the instructions follow scrupulously from the manuals: It is peremptory, for example, to keep strictly to the doses indicated in the tables, without hazarding experimentation, which in absence of equipment of control of the pressures might cause serious troubles. This book illustrates all the aspects it, supplying garlic aroused passion an indispensable tool to follow step I pass in the acquisition of the basic beginnings and, subsequently, in the most advanced elaboration. The software of enclosed calculation allows to verify besides thing can happen, in terms of maximum pressures, if it is exceeded in the doses, in density of loading of case or in density dissect them of the ball. It comments: Useful text to the neophyte who goes near in the world of the reloading. Step after step is illustrated the ricaricamento of the cartridges for pistol. The software at his disposal might not work with the most recent operative systems (Windows XP and further). |

|
Cover fourth class: The book includes, as well as the historical signs and an exhibition from the principal basic materials for the preparation of the explosives, the detailed description got out from the industrial progresses, for the obtaining in laboratory of modest quantities of several types of explosive. All of it is aimed, always within the limits of the licit one, at the research, at the study, at the hobby, it does not finish to the possibility of be dedicating to the macro-photography of the obtained substances, generally crystalline, of considerable beauty. All the objects that constitute the outfit of the laboratory are described particularly by sufficient clearness, so like their use. The treatment is exempt of formulas of chemical reactions, schemes, tables, diagrammes; therefore it results, moreover interestingly, of easy reading and accessibly to whoever: students, pyrotechnists, lovers of the practical chemistry, curious, etc. It comments: Simple and agreeable text, between several examined explosive substances, the author supplies a schematic but detailed description, different progresses for the obtaining of the nitrocellulose and of the dusts infumi. Such information is not unfortunately of easy finding, reason therefore, also only for this aspect, we think is worth the purchase it. Putroppo the author in his treatment does not consider the spheric dusts (ball powders). |

Cover fourth class: Completely on the individual loading of the cartridges and on the internal, external and final ballistics of the weapons sleekers. The physical, chemical and ballistic characteristics of the principal dusts at present existed on the national market. The doses and the components of loading for each type of cartridge: to shot, to ball, to pallettoni and to pallettoni of steel. A volume aggiornatissimo, indispensable for those who love to treat personally of the loading of the munitions with hunt. It comments: The perfect text to start penetrating into the comprehension of the internal ballistics, into the knowledge of the dusts and into the reloading for smooth cane. We guess nevertheless a kind of self-restriction of the author who never enters into the detail, maintaining a general vision and of maxim. The text is perhaps the concise and reduced version of a preceding work of the Grains: "The cartridge to shot” (Publishing Olympian - and. 1987 / II and. 1993), I weigh practically unfindable, that together with “The modern dusts with hunt and with pulling” of Pierluigi Gallina (Publishing Olympian - and. 1979/II and. 1986), also unfindable he; it constitutes for many people the absolute bibliographic reference (in Italian) for the reloading. |

Cover fourth class: The present volume is the tenth of a necklace of eleven manuals written for the course officers of the military academy of Shrivenham (Royal Military College of Science - Oxfordshire, UK); the same authors are part of the staff of the academy. There exist numerous texts of ballistics written for the specialists, unfortunately nobody of them offers a simple introduction to these complex arguments. This volume concentrates on the beginnings base illustrating them with reference to the military applications. The subject is subdivided in his components: internal, intermediate, external and final ballistics. When the book was thought be for the official pupil for whom for the specialist, some chapters have been subdivided in two parts: the first one enters less than into the detail and studies qualitatively the phenomena, the second one does reference to the useful principal mathematic relations for the amplification of the study. It comments: The text, unfortunately in English language, is very well a fact and it allows the timeliness of including, at least qualitatively, the ballistic phenomena. The didactic vocation of the book is obvious and I wait for this that the reader facilitates undoubtedly. Interesting, not easy to find on other texts, the treatment relative to the intermediate ballistics. At the end of each section an autoverification questionnaire is also present on the comprehension level of all that read. |

Without counting 800.000 belonging ones to the Armed Forces, to the Forces of Police and to the Bodies of Municipal Police supplied with weapons at one's disposal. On the matter a rich manual exists; many texts deal exclusively with the numerous and complicated juridical aspects (scattered in 24 laws, true and own "traps" for the citizen), others are dedicated to the technical, venatorial and sporting aspects, with rare signs to the normativeness. It was missing, till now, a work that was dealing jointly with all these aspects, intimately connected and essential for the one who goes near the matter without necessary backgraund juridically and technically. Cover fourth class: This third volume of the series dedicated to the “Technique of the reloading”, to his second edition (in each new edition little details are seen again) which in this case it has been remarkably widened by the addition of 48 studies of reloading of as many cartridges, some of absolutely unpublished which, associates with the ballistic tabulations a quoted drawing of the cartridge and of the case (editor's note: only three principal shares). The text, extremely technician is accompanied by photographic material of the most recent equipment supplied by the same firms producers (like the RCBS or the LYMAN or the AVL MESSTECHNIK, producer of transducers of pressure) and embellished at pressure data noticed with the system M43 OEHLER. It comments: There interesting the long paragraph dedicated to several techniques of surveying of the pressure in cane, also using the system M43 of the OEHLER (to strain-gauge). In this connection, we notice an error in the index that does not cite such a paragraph to page 197, and analogously, Gibbs does not bring back the reloading tables for the calibre.505 to page 195. |

Cover fourth class: The author, who has passed his career to study trajectories of missiles and artillery bullets, has written this work after having been remained unsatisfied of the precision of the commercial rifles. Through years of researches, it has examined a great deal of the variables on the mechanical construction of the weapons and on the variables of reloading of the munitions. In search of the maximum in terms of precision of pulling, they are valued: the mechanical movement of the action, the vibration and stiffness of the cane, the project of the chamber of cartridge and of the throat of ruling, the examination of the tension to the collar of the case, the effects of bullet do not counterbalance and very other. It comments: Certainly one of the best books never read: absolutely cautious. The author examines one to an all the variables that intervene on the precision of the rifles, with specific experiments and simulations on the computer, there is given a picture complete of all that can determine the widening of the pink one. The best aspect of the text is being able to pass from the theoretical approach to that practical / experimental, finally not words but objective data. Unfortunately, a great deal of the suggested modifications ask for specific workings to the lathe on the mechanics of the rifle, this does not take out that the scientific / experimental, difficult approach to be found in other texts or on reviews, has us in different features enraptured. Sin that the linguistic limit does not let us savour more deeply the text. |

We are going cencentrati on the part useful to know a little bit to ourselves more deeply the productive processes of the nitrocellulose and of the dusts infumi, included the ball powders. His double garment of scholar and of impassioned hunter confers the privilege on him of uniting to the technical preparation and to the instrumental experimentation, the observations and the practical checks ensuing from the activity and from the experience venatorial. As ballistic expert has led numerous and delicate skills, also in judicial cases of remarkable resonance. Author of other publications and of innumerable articles appeared on several specialised reviews and on the daily and periodic print, for twenty five years has been between the collaborators more retinues and appreciated of the review venatorial "Morning star". To him the property merit goes validamente contributed, with his written documents, to the diffusion and to a better knowledge of the ballistics cinegetica. The Work - looks after itself of a publication of conspicuous dimension and of remarkable technical value, absolutely unique of its kind. É in fact a monographic work on the dusts with hunt and with pulling, which deals with the matter in way specific and deepened in all the his numerous aspects: from the basic matters and from the progresses of manufacture to the properties and characteristics of the dusts, to the factors of influence, to the princìpi and systems of loading, and so on, up to the proof of the cartridges and the juridical discipline of the explosives and of the munitions.
After a long research, there are us finally in condition of reading this rare text. The Author - Antonio Granelli is one of the most well-known signatures in the field of the venatorial ballistics and cartridges to shot. Publicist joined the National Order of the Journalists, ballistic expert recognised to list with the Chamber of Commerce of Arezzo, for many years faithful collaborator of the reviews specialised Morning star and Diana Armi. His wide interests, be humanistic which scientists, have pressed it to deepen, with identical engagement of free seeker, cultural or technological themes between very different them. Scholar of history and philosophy of the religions, is known which specialist of the Christianity of the Reform, for his written documents, as well as for the numerous conferences held in past in many humanistic cenàcoli. The competence in some exact sciences, which the mathematics and physics widely demonstrated by the innumerable technical articles published with his name or with pseudonyms, him has not hampered of cultivating ancient loves for the letters as for the figurative arts, for the archaeology as for the metaphysical and parapsychologic research. After an initial period dedicated to the free teaching, and after having lent a long service with managerial tasks in a Public body, the Author has devoted to himself eslcusivamente to the free profession of ballistic consultant close to produced national industries of weapons, explosives, and cartridges. In quality of technical consultant, some judicial Offices have entrusted, his in spite of, numerous skills to him in criminal progresses of particular difficulty and delicacy. For the specific preparation in the sector, it has been called to treat the updating of works been considered classic, written by Experts of clear fame which the grief Giannetto Corsi and Federico Negri, quite rightly considered mile stones of the modern venatorial ballistics. In continuous evolution the Author has given new impulse to this science with his written documents, often opening to the unusual readers horizons through the divulgation of the own experiences. His knowledge of the matter, in fact, not so much derives from the long and attentive study of the relative world literature, as from the personal research work in the departments of test of the cartridges, close to the industries in which it unwinds his technician's appreciated collaboration. The Work - For a long time now had been informed the lack of a complete and modern monograph on the cartridge to shot, particularly between the publications in our language. The present study comes then to fill a gap, because it does not limit itself to a flat treatment of the theme with pure popular reason, but it applies to a readers' wide category with the intention of satisfying different interests with the hunter, with the lover, with the lover of ballistic problems. Although the exhibition of the arguments turns out to be easily accessible to the layman, the work puts at disposal a true property of news, formulas, ballistic tables, physical or chemical laws, advice about the practical loading and about the use of the munitions. A harvesting that does not displease to find reunited in the same volume, not only for an informative reading, but also for a possible swift consultation. The text supplies the fundamental knowledge on the explosive phenomenon, on different propellant and the relative manufacture, on the triggered apparatus, on the material remnants that compete to form the cartridge. It starts to examine subsequently in detail different problems of internal, external and final ballistics of the weapon to smooth cane and relative munitions, without neglecting it argues about great interest, certainly not easy. For example, the instrumental control of the cartridges, the evaluation of the relative ballistic and statistical parametres, for the first time is explained by them in simple way, with journalistic style, intention that distinguishes all the written documents of the Author.
After a long research, there are us finally in condition of reading this rare text. Cover fourth class: Giannetto Corsi, the author of the text, has been one of the most famous experts of ballistic sciences. It NATO to Rome in 1901 of Florentine family, conferred in first pure, assistant chemistry close to the University of Padova, it entered then to be part of the Factory of Spilimberto della Soc. Italian Prodotti Esplodenti (SIPE) of which he became an assistant director in 1930. Of here it passed to the Factories of Colleferro della Soc. Also when it assumed that task, he wanted to keep the responsibility gone towards head of all the activities esplosivistiche and spatial of the Society. Under his guide for his will and on his ingenious initiatives and intuitions the BPD (then SNIA-BDP), it tied his name to numerous patents in the field of the wheats for rockets and more in general in the field of the solid propellant, today at length got a job with the missile and spatial activities. It unwound his numerous activity also in the field of the studies realising in the technique esplosivistica and missile important innovations and obtaining further a patents ventina. Impassioned hunter dedicated part of his free time to the venatorial technique co-operating with the review «Morning star« and writing to popular reason «» and venatorial Ballistics «II personal rifle». It founded in 1947 the Experimental Ballistic institute of Florence that, nevertheless, after a few years of appreciable one and not as appreciated activity, closed to assume professional tasks again. It comments: Book dated (the first drawing up goes up again in 1933) but, in any case, interesting and valid. The edition of we read, the fourth one of 1987, enjoys besides the updating brought by authoritative Antonio Granelli. Cover fourth class: "Modern exterior ballistics” is a complete text that covers the dynamics with base of the flight of symmetric bullets. It is about a technical book, largely destined to professionals with technical / mathematic background., the author was still a shooter and then good part of the book turns out to be accessible also to not professionals, a great deal of the results are quite simple to be able to be determined also by a scientific calculator. The book supplies a historical perspective at the first developments in the 19th century, up to the modern epoch, I cross the first one and World War II. Between the historical arguments he understands the first ballistic tables, the first experiments in gallery of the wind and the first supercomputer ENIAC, planned to calculate the artillery trajectory for the US Army Ballistic Research Laboratory. The level of the text asks for a preparation of mathematics, physics and mechanics. The fundamental beginnings of the ballistic science are developed by a definition complete of the aerodynamic forces that check the dynamics of the flight of the symmetric bullets. The author begins with the trajectory of the point of mass in the gap, adds the dragging effects, the action discusses the winds and the Coriolis effect. There are included in the discussion the analytical methods, the change of variable for a long time now over distance, numerical solutions and a chapter on the method Here Be. The method Here Be that it supplies a historical perspective for the calculation of the trajectories and he is also used in the sport of the pulling. The last six chapters of the book present a wide physical and mathematic analysis of the motion of the symmetric bullets. The equations linearizzate of the angular motion and of drift are shown in the detail. There are discussed also the effects of the asymmetry of mass, the yaw in cane, the transverse wind, the derivation. These subjects are widened then to include a complete chapter on not linear aerodynamic forces. The final chapter of the book presents a view of the experimental methods to measure the dynamics of flight of the bullets. The great point of strength of “Modern Exterior Ballistics” is the effort of the author of supplying many specific examples with bullets in flight illustrating the key behaviours it. The wide harvesting of data with the bullets for weapons of little calibre up to the artillery, used for documenting the calculations and the examples, alone represents a valid and substantial reference. At last, the text offers a whole incomparably complete of photos relative to the aerodynamic perturbations of bullets (subsonic, transonic and supersonic) in flight. The volume is a complement necessary to any course of degree relative to the dynamics of flight of the bullets. It comments: Different texts exist on the external ballistics and the greatest part of them can be subdivided fundamentally in two classes: too technical or not sufficiently technical. The too technical texts supply often numerous equations relative to the mathematic modellizzazione of the phenomenon but, unfortunately, few shooters manage to draw such useful information to be used directly in the practical improvement it. “Modern Exterior Ballistics” belongs certainly to this texts category. In order that the author follows in the resolution of several equations there is necessary property of the rudiments of differential and integral calculus. To our medesto to seem the treatment remains often at too theoretical level even if the text turns out to be, in any case, interesting and perhaps between the few ones with a so detailed examination of the behaviour of the bullets in flight. Because of the premature disappearance of the author the text has been published by numerous print errors. It is, in any case, possible to find the list of several corrections, drafted at authoritative exponents' of the sector, to the next link: PDF typographic errors on “Modern Exterior Ballistics”, looks after himself of a document of about 20 pages. |

Cover fourth class: The external ballistics is a by now ripe science. Unfortunately, many shooters have not been able to enter completely this knowledge field because it is usually described in very technical language. The objective of this book is to explain the important elements of external ballistics in such practical way to be able to be included and applied by the shooter. This book offers also an original contribution in the sport of the pulling in long distance: in fact, there has been valued experimentally the ballistic coefficient (BC) of further 175 bullets of the most popular marks. With this really accurate evaluation of the ballistic coefficient, the shooters have the possibility of making very exact calculations on the trajectory of the bullet. The text includes a CD contained a program of external ballistics. Combined with the experimental measures of the ballistic coefficient, this program is able to foresee in way extremely accurately the trajectory and of modellizzare in innovative way the drift due to a spin of the bullet. It comments: Certainly it is about the more than advisable perfect text. The author supplies the tools to be able to include all the practical lapels of the ballistic coefficient and of the coefficient of shape, when specific indications were giving onto the methods to choose the best bullet for the own specific application (for the peculiar performances of external, not final ballistics). About 1/3 of the text it is dedicated to useful recapitulatory tables on which the author shows the experimental surveying of the ballistic coefficient on further 175 bullets of several producers (you see index). The best aspect of the book as for an already reviewed text: "Rifle Accuracy Facts” of Harold R. Vaughn, is being able to combine the theoretical approach to that practical / experimental. The book represents certainly a "must" for the interested parties to the external ballistics and for the shooters over middle and long distance with rifle, the exhibition of the information is clear and detailed with a difficult "practical" depth to be found in other texts or on reviews. Also in this case we regret that the linguistic limit does not let us savour more deeply the text. |

Cover fourth class: This book describes from a physical and biological point of view the penetrative behaviour of bullets and fragments in the human body. He shows besides knowledge of base and concepts of general ballistics: dynamics of the fluids, mechanics, internal, external ballistics, stability, final ballistics, and so on. As well as supplying a view on weapons and munitions of little calibre, in appendage it contains numerous tables on the ballistic properties of the most important munitions, be in metric unities which Anglo-Saxons. It comments: The text is the English translation of the original monograph in German "Woundballistik". This text is focused on the ballistics of the lesion even if the whole preliminary section supplies some concepts with base of internal and external ballistics, of mechanics and fluid dynamics, with a part dedicated to the history of the fire-arms and to the development of the munitions. The second part of the text is widely based on the ballistics of the lesion: from the theoretical presuppositions to the typology of bullet, to the techniques of study of the final phenomena. I test certainly of interest to have a quite complete view on the ballistics of the lesion, on his modellizzazione and on the physical beginnings that regulate it.

Cover fourth class: A guide to the bases of the pulling of defence and operative. A product applied to all the possessors of pistols by personal defence and to the professionals of the certainty. To be in possession of a weapon does not mean to be able to defend itself. In the danger situations it is necessary to take into account many factors that can change the perceptions and have negative effects on the body and the mind. When one comes attacked it is not thought lucidly, the breath becomes troubled, the cardiac throbs increase, the hands and the legs tremble and south-anus, and it is possible to have a decrease of the hearing and of the sight. These causes will hinder the normal use of the weapon. For this reason it is important to know well the techniques and to be trained in effective way. It comments: Good DVD in which there are illustrated the principal techniques of the operative pulling: from the certainty rules, to the pulling positions to finish the resolution of the jams. Clear and effective exhibition, certainly a good departure point for the neophyte.

Headline: Bullet penetration (↑) Author: Duncan MacPherson Publication: Ballistic Pubblications - (CA) 2005 Physical description: 307 pages with ill. 23,6 x 15,8 cm. Subjects: Ballistics of the lesion Publication language: English ISBN: 0964357712 |

Cover fourth class: In this text there is presented a new model of the dynamics of penetration of the bullet. He derives from the general equations of the motion after having verified the empiric constant ones by means of looked proofs. This penetration model represents a technical advancement compared to the preceding knowledge of final ballistics and is directly correlated to the comprehension of the effects of the parametres characterised the bullet (speed, diameter, weight, shape) in the generation of a disabled wound. That of the physical incapacity caused by the wounds of fire-arm is a complex, discussed and controversial argument for many decades, this book deals with all the aspects of this matter and includes a recapitulation of the principal preceding studies and efforts of modellizzazione connected with the medical questions. Also the most technical sections, they are written all the paragraphs in an intelligible style also to the layman. It comments: I test certainly interestingly that as well as the description of the method of modellizzazione adjusted by the author, supplies a general view with the mechanism damaging the bullets. According to our modest opinion, the exhibition of several dealt points could be rationalised better and schematised to advantage of the general intelligibility of the text. It remains, in any case, evident the prominent work unwound by MacPherson is from the point of view of the preliminary theoretical statement that also and above all under the experimental outline.
