HAMMR: sensor trolley
June 14th, 2009 Posted in HAMMR, electronics, tools, technologyBy now we us are, after the modifications and the addition of the sensor of position, we are about to join the definitive proof, that brim to the experimental evaluation of the possible advantages, in 9×21, offered at the loading with heavy balls compared to the classics 124gr. Adjusted the reloading to equal factor with balls of several weight and dusts more or less vivacious, we will pass to the surveying.
Organising the test we have noticed nevertheless that, over the entity of the recoil, it could be useful to notice a second important datum or rather, the time of reaction of the trolley (opening and closing). For a swift repetition of the blow in fact, it is wanted not only reduced impennamento of the weapon but also, a rapid answered for the pistol, he to be ready to fire the following blow. In other words, there is wanted a swift completion of the cycle of rearmament: opening, expulsion of the extinguished case and contemporary rearmament of the dog, insertion of a new cartridge and I return to closing for a new blow.
After some proofs we have chosen to mount a sensor to infrared bundle (photo-coupler to throat), complementary to a light section bar to "L" agreement with from the biadesivo to the pistol. In definitive we will have two signals to stand out to the oscilloscope: that analogic generated by the sensor potenziometrico of recoil and that digital for the surveying of the time of cycle of the trolley. About the sensor potenziometrico we had already talked (“HAMMR: we mount the sensoristica“), to follow the details on the assembling of the sensor to infrared.
Electric scheme
It is about the classic scheme of a photo-coupler with exit "bufferata". For the buffer we have used a HC4093 in configuration NOT with isteresi (schmitt trigger).

Scheme sensor IR
The presence or the absence of the obstacle to interruption of the infrared bundle (between emettitore and receiver of the photo-coupler) will be converted into a digital signal proposed to the exit “Out“. By means of the jumper J1 it is possible to select the answer logic: closed trolley = high signal or vice versa.
I list components:
D1 = diodo 1N4007
C1 = electrolytic condenser 47uF 25V
R1 = resistance 1/4W 470 Ohms
R2 = resistance 1/4W 4700 Ohms
R3 = resistance 1/4W 1200 Ohms
L1 = Led 3mm red
FC1 = photo-coupler to throat type H21A1 Fairchild
IC1 = HC4093 - 4 doors Nand with schmitt trigger
J1 = jumper of selection
Assembling
The electronic basetta has been fixed, by means of opportune eccentric courts for the regulation of the position, to a united support of one of the guancette of the rest (on the side opposed compared to the window of expulsion of the weapon).

Sensor IR and open trolley
It seems to the system to work correctly, the proof to fire supplies likely results. To follow screened obtained to the PC: in red the trace of the sensor to the trolley (signal alto=carrello open), in blue that one of the sensor of recoil (retrograde rotation and I return to battery). It remains to verify the what of that seems a bounce at run end of the trolley, so as highlit at the electric signal of the sensor (red trace: closing and sudden reopening).

It signals to the oscilloscope
We hope to have completed another step in direction of the final experiment that, we wish ourselves, it will have interesting relapses on the criteria of assemblage of our munitions for dynamic pulling.
Speedy.
