Using the progressive pressings, I have thought that two functions would have been useful:Utilizzando le presse progressive, ho pensato che sarebbero state utili due funzioni:

1) to hold the account of the munitions produced for session1) tenere il conto delle munizioni prodotte per sessione

2) to see easily the level of the dust inside the case2) vedere facilmente il livello della polvere all’interno del bossolo

When the perfect idea was following from Giovanni Pironti (the site sardiniashootingclub) as to the use of a contapassi like metre, I realised on my pressing a system contacolpi. As indicated in Giovanni's article in relation to the modification of the contapassi it remains unvaried, what I have modified is instead of the system of the sensor, or rather that part that closes and opens an electric contact to the passage of the finished cartridge or, as in my case, of the case.Seguendo l’ottima idea di Giovanni Pironti (dal sito sardiniashootingclub) in merito all’uso di un contapassi come contatore, ho realizzato sulla mia pressa un sistema contacolpi. Quanto indicato nell’articolo di Giovanni in relazione alla modifica del contapassi rimane invariato, ciò che ho modificato è invece il sistema del sensore, ossia quella parte che chiude ed apre un contatto elettrico al passaggio della cartuccia finita o, come nel mio caso, del bossolo.

Sulla pressa Square Deal i dies sono solo quattro. L’ultimo die e’ usato per il crimpaggio della palla, parametro che deve essere regolato finemente. Per tale ragione ho preferito, anche se in linea teorica possibile, non intervenire sul quarto die inserendovi all’interno il pulsante.

The problem sensor was remaining: initially I had thought of infrared sensoriums put on the scivola of the pressing (that one on which the finished blows pass towards an external container) or, alternatively, to a micro-switch on the drawer of the batcher. Tried, these systems were presenting themselves nevertheless not much reliable.Rimaneva il problema sensore: inizialmente avevo pensato a sensori infrarossi posti sulla scivola della pressa (quella su cui transitano verso un contenitore esterno i colpi finiti) o, in alternativa, ad un micro-switch sul cassetto del dosatore. Provati, questi sistemi si presentavano però non molto affidabili.

Also not modified contapassi put on the batcher dust, element that during the functioning of the pressing and in presence of the case a vertical alternative motion assumes, was giving false indications because of the shaking of the pressing itself during the use.Anche il contapassi non modificato posto sul dosatore polvere, elemento che durante il funzionamento della pressa ed in presenza del bossolo assume un moto alternativo verticale, dava false indicazioni a causa dello scuotimento della pressa stessa durante l’uso.

The solution has arrived using the magnetic contacts for burglar alarm. Such contacts are constituted from two cylindrical sides in plastic art or brass: that one devoid of threads is not other that a magnet, other one contains the true and own electric contact (better known as a contact Reed). Such a contact is closed if immersed in an adequate magnetic field. It it results that, when two parts sleep sufficiently near, the field of the magnet is such to determine the closing of the circuit that otherwise will remain open. As visible the photos, the magnet has been fixed to the firm one of die batcher / countersink, the electric contact is instead unitedly to the dosapolvere. The action on the lever of the pressing is not then sufficient to make increasing the count in all that the removing between magnet and contact will be only to the movement of the batcher or rather, only when there is present a case to be filled.La soluzione è arrivata usando dei contatti magnetici per antifurto. Tali contatti sono costituiti da due parti cilindriche in plastica o ottone: quella priva di fili non è altro che un magnete, l’altra contiene il vero e proprio contatto elettrico (meglio conosciuto come contatto Reed). Tale contatto viene chiuso se immerso in un adeguato campo magnetico. Ne consegue che, quando le due parti sonno sufficientemente vicine, il campo del magnete sarà tale da determinare la chiusura del circuito che altrimenti rimarrà aperto. Come visibile dalle foto, il magnete è stato fissato sul fermo del die dosatore/svasatore, il contatto elettrico è invece solidale al dosapolvere. L’azione sulla leva della pressa non è quindi sufficiente a fare incrementare il conteggio in quanto l’allontanamento tra magnete e contatto si avrà solo al movimento del dosatore ossia, solo quando sarà presente un bossolo da riempire.

The system of the magnetic sensor, thanks to the absence of a mechanical action run on the contacts, guarantees least usury and reliability increases.Il sistema del sensore magnetico, grazie all’assenza di un’azione meccanica diretta sui contatti, garantisce minime usure ed affidabilità maggiori.

The contapassi has been accomodated on a stirrup fixed to one of the vines of clamping of the transparent container of the dust. Taking advantage of the presence of such a stirrup I have also realised a guide to sledge that, leaning against the pipe contained the triggers, bounds the swings of the dosapolvere during his vertical movement.Il contapassi è stato alloggiato su di una staffa fissata ad una delle viti di serraggio del contenitore trasparente della polvere. Approfittando della presenza di tale staffa ho anche realizzato una guida a slitta che, appoggiandosi sul tubo contenente gli inneschi, limita le oscillazioni del dosapolvere durante il suo movimento verticale.

I point 2 - to See in the casePunto 2 - Vedere dentro il bossolo

Having recovered at home a mini-telecamera B/N with an interphone and an old portable television set CRT (both elements comperabili to somewhat on Ebay) I have put together this that is visible on the photos: the reconciled image of the shell plate captured by the telecamera, is reproposed on the little protection CRT. The cases will have so grown and always quite visible. To distinguish clearly the interior of the case and the level of the contained dust, I have added nearly to the chamber a white led to high brightness.Avendo in casa una mini-telecamera B/N ricuperata da un citofono ed un vecchio televisore portatile CRT (entrambi gli elementi comperabili a poco su Ebay) ho messo insieme ciò che e’ visibile sulle foto: l’immagine ravvicinata dello shell plate catturata dalla telecamera, viene riproposta sul piccolo schermo CRT. I bossoli saranno così ingranditi e sempre ben visibili. Per distinguere con chiarezza l’interno del bossolo ed il livello della polvere contenuta, ho aggiunto vicino alla camera un led bianco ad alta luminosità.

The telecamera is supported by a little aluminium squadretta opportunely shaped and fixed at the left of the pressing. It is necessary to take care that the positioning of the chamber is not of hindrance for the manual insertion of the balls on the cases.La telecamera viene sorretta da una piccola squadretta di alluminio opportunamente sagomata e fissata alla sinistra della pressa. E’ necessario fare attenzione che il posizionamento della camera non sia di intralcio per l’inserimento manuale delle palle sui bossoli.

The electric connections to the chamber are essential, serve in fact only: an alimentation to 12V CD and the video connection to the external TV. For the diodo to high brightness, when the same alimentation wanted to use the telecamera (12V) a resistance was connected mass-produced to the diodo 330Ohm obtaining so a current approximately included between 20 and 30th, more than sufficient for a good brightness (to verify on the grounds of the typology of the diodo led).Le connessioni elettriche alla camera sono essenziali, servono infatti solo: una alimentazione a 12V DC ed il collegamento video alla TV esterna. Per il diodo ad alta luminosità, volendo usare la medesima alimentazione della telecamera (12V) si è connessa in serie al diodo una resistenza da 330Ohm ottenendo così una corrente approssimativamente compresa tra 20 e 30mA, più che sufficiente per una buona luminosità (verificare in base alla tipologia del diodo led).
